Fonterra Edendale, South Island
Tour Highlights
36.8% of the milk supplied by Fonterra shareholders in the South Island is processed at the Edendale site. Edendale site is now Fonterra’s largest manufacturing site and has the ability to handle up to 15.1 million litres of milk a day in the peak processing season. Projected strong milk growth in the South Island saw the construction of Drier 4, the world’s largest milk powder drier, comissioned in September 2009. Running at full capacity, this plant can make 27 tonnes of milk powder an hour or more than 150,000 tonnes in a season.
